About Jean
A multi-faceted person, responsible for her own artistic development,
Jean Vormelker synthesizes an eclectic educational background that
brings a unique perspective to her work. She has studied with over 50
top professionals in the fields of jewelry making and enameling in
Japan, Australia, Canada, Germany and the US. She has been
teaching enameling and jewelry for over 30 years.
From jewelry to wall pieces, Jean works in a variety of enamel styles -
cloisonné, Limoges, plique à jur, raku, stencil and more. Her award-
winning work has been shown in Australia, Canada, Germany, and the
US.
Skilled in metal and enameling techniques, she has taught jewelry
making in Japan; Precious Metal Clay in Canada; metals, PMC and
enameling the United States.
Active in several enamel and metal guilds, Jean is also a published
author, including a chapter on enameling on PMC in “Contemporary
Enameling—Art and Technique” by Lilyan Bachrach (2006) and
“Enameling with Professionals” by Lilyan Bachrach (2002).
She has written articles and contributed to “Studio PMC”, (the
newsletter of the PMC Guild) and “Glass on Metal” magazine.
She wrote and edited “The Vitreous Voice” (quarterly newsletter of the
Enamel Guild: West) for 12 years.
Her jewelry also appears in “Metal Corrugation” by Patricia McAleer and
